DUTIES OF THE TREASURER

1. Maintain the H.I.S. bank account, preferably in a local bank.

2. Make arrangements with bank to have two signatures (President and Treasurer) on file in case Treasurer is unavailable for signing checks. Only one signature is required on H.I.S. checks. Signature paperwork needs to be brought to the annual meeting for the newly elected officers to sign.

3. Handle all fiscal transactions of the organization (such as billing, collecting, and paying bills in connection with the Horticultural Inspection Society Inspector’s Guide, patches, etc.)

4. Collecting and soliciting of annual dues and issue current dues cards.

5. Prepare and present to the annual meeting a complete accounting of the funds handled during the previous year. Fiscal records should be made available to the audit committee at the time of the annual meeting.

6. Collect registration fees at the annual meeting and pay any meeting expenses.

7. At the end of the term of office and after the books and current business is brought up-to-date, transfer the files and the H.I.S. funds over to the new treasurer.
